Improvements to Website Policies

We are making significant improvements to the policies governing privacy and data consent for our current clients.

I am excited to announce a range of significant improvements for our clients when it comes to privacy policies, cookie consent, and data collection. These improvements will begin rolling out in the coming weeks and will be done at no cost for current clients.

What is changing?

We are making significant improvements to how privacy policies, cookie consent, and data collection work for our our own website and our client’s sites:

  • Privacy Policy and Terms of Service pages will be switched from static pages to dynamically updating pages, which automatically adapt to new web policy laws along with changes in your website or organization.
  • Website users will be given much more control over their data and how it is used with cookie consent tools.
  • reCAPTCHA is being replaced with Cloudflare Turnstile, eliminating unnecessary data collection by third-parties.

Why the change?

Website privacy and data consent laws have changed a lot in the last ten years, with many US states and other countries adopting different sets of web policy laws. These laws govern everything from privacy policy disclosures and cookie consent, to user’s rights over how their data is handled online.

The important thing to note with these laws is that your business or organization doesn’t need to be located in the state or country where the law is active. These web policy laws do not care about where your business or organization is located; they only care to protect their citizens. Many of these laws and bills also do not care about the size of your organization. They affect small and large organizations alike. Because these laws are always in flux, and broadly applicable, relying on static web policies for protection just doesn’t make sense anymore.

Hancock.Build has partnered with Termageddon, a leader in privacy policy and terms of service generation. Termageddon is the only privacy policy generator listed as a trusted vendor by the IAPP.org, an organization consisting of 60,000 privacy attorneys and professionals. Their team monitors the ever-evolving landscape of global privacy laws and automatically updates policies to ensure compliance. They also provide simple tools for cookie consent solutions for websites.

What will change on my website?

Your website will receive an updated Privacy Policy and Cookie Consent tool powered by Termageddon. Websites with contact forms will be updated to replace reCAPTCHA with Cloudflare Turnstile, which unlike reCAPTCHA, does not collect user data.

Primary contacts will also receive an invite via email to setup your own Termageddon account, which is linked to your website. Your account allows you to edit your website privacy settings.

If you would like to see how these changes will look, you can visit our website where the update has already been made. Just note, your website’s privacy policies may look slightly different depending on what information you collect on your site.

When will these changes take place?

These improvements will be rolled out in the next few weeks. Your website will not experience any downtime or disruption.

What will these improvements cost?

Termageddon charges $12 / month for their services, but through our partnership, we are including their services into your current website Maintenance Plan at no additional cost to you.
